Project text

Perched on a city rooftop, Un drapeau pour la Planète 9 (A Flag for Planet 9) towers over the urban landscape, bearing the emblematic colors of our solar system's hypothetical ninth planet (as imagined by the artist).

The initial project takes the form of a flag as a final proposal
of a flag for the ninth planet in our solar system. Orbiting well
beyond the Kuiper Belt and probably a detachment from Jupiter's orbit at the time of our solar system's formation, Planet Nine has been seriously considered since 2016, and would be at the root of the anomaly in the orbital axis
of the other eight planets and our sun.

Planet Nine (also known as Phattie) was predicted thanks to calculations by Konstantin Batygin and Michael E. Brown of the California Institute o (Caltech) on January 20, 2016. If the planet's mass were about ten times that of the Earth, with a diameter two to four times larger between Earth and Neptune; it would be composed of rock and ice composed of rock and ice, and its atmosphere of hydrogen and helium.

The project took a fascinating look at the politics of conquering ideas, whether fictional or real.
